Common questions

How does submitting a shop work?

You answer a short eligibility quiz covering hard requirements (named roaster, manual espresso machine, coffee-first focus) and an 11-point scoring rubric (single origin, pour-over, in-house roasting, light-roast espresso, latte art, and so on). If the shop passes, you upload three photos (exterior, interior, and menu) and submit. The submission goes to a curator queue.

How does curator review work?

A human curator looks at every submission that passes the rubric. They check the photos, the menu OCR, and the answers. Approved submissions appear on the map with the curator credited. Rejected submissions come back with a reason.

Why wasn't my shop approved?

Common reasons: the menu photo shows a syrup-headlined drinks board, the espresso machine in the interior photo is a super-automatic, or the roaster named in the submission turned out to be a commodity supplier on the curator's check. The rejection reason in your submissions list explains it. You can resubmit if circumstances change. For example, if the shop moved to a new espresso setup.

What's the difference between Specialty Score and Bloom Score?

Specialty Score is the editorial score from the eligibility rubric (0 to 10, one decimal). It reflects how the shop fits the third-wave taxonomy. Bloom Score is community sentiment, the count of people who have Bloomed the shop. They sit side by side. Popularity does not override the rubric.

How do I report a problem with a shop?

On the shop's detail page, tap the overflow menu (the … icon) and choose Report. Pick a reason (inaccurate, closed, inappropriate content, or other) and add a note. If you think a shop is on the map but doesn't fit the third-wave rubric, use Wrong for Bloom instead and make the case in writing; super-curators review those. Curators review every report.

How do I delete my account?

In the app: Profile → Settings → Delete account. The two-step confirmation explains exactly what gets removed. Your profile, saved shops, Blooms, and any pending or rejected submissions are deleted. Approved shops you contributed stay in the app but are anonymized. The editorial content the community relies on does not vanish, but the link to you does.

I can't sign in.

If you signed up with Sign in with Apple, use the same Apple ID. If you signed up with email and password, use the password reset link on the sign-in screen. If you used the Apple "hide my email" relay and lost access to it, email support from any address and we'll help.

Location isn't working.

iOS Settings → Bloom → Location → While Using the App. If location is off entirely on the device, the map still works. You'll see shops by city instead of by distance.

Will there be an Android version?

Not on the roadmap.
